UC Santa Barbara researcher awarded $3 million for extreme 3D printing materials research

University of California, Santa Barbara researcher Tresa Pollock has been granted $3 million by the US Department of Defense (DoD) to carry out research into 3D printing materials. The funding was awarded to Pollock as one of the 13 Vannevar Bush Faculty Fellowships awardees for 2017. The funding is to support Pollock’s research for the next five years as she develops a platform for testing new 3D printed materials. The materials will be tested in high pressure, high temperature environments that can be likened to a Space Shuttle reentering Earth’s atmosphere.
